Laughing family tree

Reading this volume is like listening to a choir singing many different parts. János Lackfi's poems tell the story of a family's everyday life, but not in the least bit everyday: funny, wise, brave and very honest. The children dream of wonderful inventions, collect beetles and petals, sometimes they are in love, sometimes someone is in love with them, are just overcoming hysteria, marvel at the beach, enthusiastically hunt flies, or just long to have their own superman. In this cacophony of love, the father occasionally interjects in his deeper voice, marveling at his own family and life, at the world, at God - and at the child who lives in him.
